The EXTREME Studio Makeover

Studio Makeover

Along with the start of the new year, came the realization that our ideas for the future were materializing somewhat sooner than expected. It became increasingly apparent that the current studio configuration was no longer going to adequately serve the dynamic needs of our expanding business goals.

In addition to new equipment purchases and upgrades of existing hardware, consideration had to be given to the selection of new workstations, and storage options. The room itself was in need of a fresh new coat of paint. There was also the ever-present laundry list of things "I'd love to fix the next time I get a few minutes". This was the perfect opportunity to tear everything down and rebuild it from scratch.

Obviously we couldn't take the time to share every detail in the process, nor would anyone (except the most anal retentive among us - who, me?) be interested in things such as reorganizing equipment racks and installing blank rack panels, or handy soldering tips that evolved from having to affix hundreds of audio connectors to miles of cable.

So needless to say, you won't see much in the line of screwdrivering or rosin-core flux melting tutorials in the pages that follow. However, we tried to snap a few pix along the way, and pass along a tidbit or two from our experiences with this process. By the way, in the instances when I took the time to mention a particular product within this blog - consider it an endorsement. I have a real sore spot for inferior products (of any kind). I don't care to work with them, and most certainly would not go out of my way to promote anything that I didn't find useful.
